Pricing / Timeframe / Estimates and Payment

Rickenbacker Restoration / Customizing – As with any custom work, there are many variables that can and will affect the cost of a restoration or customization project. However, over the years, I have found that there are some typical inquiries that I receive, and the costs that will be affiliated with them:

Strip and Refinish - $675 - $800. I always recommend removing an existing finish, even if it’s in good condition.

Full Customization - $1,500 - $1,800

New fingerboard / crushed pearl inlays - $350 - $500

Refret - $250 - $350. Requires refinishing of the fretboard.

Custom Shop – Due to the inherent variables in crafting a custom guitar or bass, such as wood selection, electronics desired and method of construction, standard pricing is typically not available. However, as a guide, the cost for a custom guitar based on the DGW “WB” model will start at $1,500.

Timeframe – Typical timeframe for a full customization is about 4 months from finalizing details. I typically work on two “major” projects at a time, and schedule projects so that your guitar will be worked on immediately after receiving it. Due to insurance limitations, I typically will not accept a guitar more than a month prior to its scheduled start time. During the time your guitar is in my shop, you will receive periodic updates, typically every two weeks, regarding its progress / status, including photographs.

Estimates and Payment – I will be pleased to give you a firm estimate for your guitar or bass, but in order to do so, I will need detailed photographs of the guitar or bass before being able to do so. A 50% deposit will be required at the beginning of the process, with the remainder due prior to shipping.
